What procedures are involved in a smile makeover?

Procedures involved in a smile makeover include Invisalign to put the teeth in the correct position, giving you a more natural smile. It also includes implants to replace any missing teeth, as well as veneers, crowns, bridges, and whitening.

What are the benefits of a smile makeover?

The benefits of a smile makeover are to make you happy, healthy, and more confident. Also, with a new beautiful smile, you are more likely to take care of those teeth, keeping you healthy. Putting the teeth in the right position makes them easier to clean and maintain, meaning you'll have them nice and healthy for a much longer period of life.

How do I get rid of all that?

A lot of times you do not even have to be numb for the smile makeover procedure, depending on what it is. If it's a lot of veneers we can do without getting you numb, sometimes if it's a crown or implants, things like that, then yes, you will be numb to make you more comfortable.

Is there much healing or recovery time involved in smile makeovers?

There is not much healing or recovery time involved in smile makeovers. Most of these things are very minimally invasive, meaning we're not cutting much, we're not really changing too much of the tooth structure, so generally at the end of the day, right after we're done, you're good to go.

How should I take care of my teeth after a smile makeover?

You definitely should resume regular brushing and flossing after a smile makeover. Stay away from whitening toothpaste or any toothpaste that is too abrasive. You generally want to stay with brands with a low RDA value, it's listed on the box. A very good company that makes a low abrasive toothpaste is called Made by Dentist, it actually is designed by dentists, and it's very good for veneers, crowns, and anything involved in a smile makeover.

CAD/CAM restoration

CAD/CAM is an acronym that stands for computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing.

CAD/CAM technology is used to help the dental team fabricate precise shapes and sizes for dental restorations including inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges. This technology provides patients with durable, esthetic, well-fitted single and multiple tooth restorations in a more efficient manner. The first step in using CAD/CAM technology is tooth preparation. Next, a digital impression is taken that sends the prepared tooth’s exact dimensions into a computer. Afterwards, the computer software creates a virtual restoration replacement part for the missing areas of the tooth. The software then sends the virtual restoration data to the milling machine, where the replacement part is carved out of a solid block of ceramic or composite resin. The restoration is adjusted in the patient’s mouth and cemented or bonded in place.
